Alitap Falls is found in the remote area of Mauban Quezon which is reachable by boat or by walking the beach shores of Mauban (will take 3-4 hours) so I suggest take the boat which will take 30 minute boat ride and 45 minute trek. The place is very much remote there are houses from the jumpoff point and halfway only passing by farmlands, there is a cemented trail leading to Alitap Falls. So make sure to have a local reliable tour guide who definetly knows the place just to make sure you dont get lost. (Rommel a.k.a . LAWIN local tricycle driver) while getting near the falls the trail gets a bit rough as well by crossing the stream from time to time which is about waist deep and walk thru the big slippery rocks, but to tell you once you reach the place you will definitely love nature. If you have a fishing rod make sure to bring it because there is actually fresh water fishes living in basin of the waterfalls.
HOW TO GET THERE:
From Metro Manila ride any bus bound to LUCENA Grand Terminal. (from Kamias JAC Liner Php 190) trip will take about 3 hours average I would suggest depart in the morning 6am-9am. From Grand Terminal look for NCR Bus they are the only bus company who has trips to Mauban Quezon roughly 35 Km. from Grand Terminal trip will take approx 2 hours fare is 50 pesos tell the conductor to drop you off in Mauban Public Market. Upon reaching public look for a local guide by asking the tricycle drivers on where can you find Rommel a.k.a. Lawin and Brian they know the way to Alitap Falls. If you cant find them, ask any locals to guide you going thru Alitap Falls. Then proceed to Mauban Port by riding a Tricyle, once in the port look for a local bankero to hire cost is 800 to and from pesos small sized motorized boat usually good for 4-6 people. Boat ride will take 30 minutes of waters are calm if rough will take 45 minutes. From the beach jump off point trek will take 45 minutes to reach Alitap Falls, like Dahoyhoy Falls there is a cemented trail leading halfway to Alitap. Lastly there is no campsite in Alitap so best time is go there in the afternoon and leave before it gets dark. Lastly leave no trace! All garbage you bring in should be brought out as well.
