Death March Km Zero, Mariveles --- This death march kilometer zero is one of the two starting points of the infamous death march, the other one being in Bagac, Bataan.. The march of the Filipino-American Prisoners-of-War started here on April 10, 1942. The historical plaque summarized in two languages the horrific ordeal of our
heroes.
How to get there:
Mariveles is the southernmost town in the Bataan Peninsula which is reached by taking the Roman Highway which features a wide shoulder from Layac Junction. The wide highway ends just before the road goes in an exciting downhill zigzag road which is dubbed as "bitukang-manok". The route passes
throuh the Bataan Economic Processing Zone before it reaches the Mariveles town proper.
The Death March kilometer zero monument serves as a welcome landmark upon reaching the town proper.
