PORTULANO HOUSE REEF
ACCESS: Shore entry from Portulano Dive Resort.
CONDITIONS: Generally calm
AVERAGE DEPTH: 60ft (18m)
The coral garden is filled with numerous corals such as table corals, staghorn, lettuce corals in pristine conditions. Batfish and ribbon eel residents can be spotted in the area. Resident turtles and a giant grouper are often seen.
The underwater topography is interesting. Starting from a shallow, nearly flat area that is nice to snorkel, going down to a series of crevices and mounds that are formed like fingers at 30-40 ft going down to a sandy area at about 80ft.
Barney is the name of the resident turtle. It got its name from the fact that he has barnacles on his shell. The grouper is fondly called Groupie.Waypoint narrative by: EPPGarcia 2007 follow EPPGarcia on Facebook
