Sariaya Church Photo 2 of 9 <<prev | narratives | next>> © Photo by: GBLontok (2003) All Rights ReservedSee GBLontok on Facebook Footnote by: GBLontok (2003) The acacia tree serves as a historical landmark and a silent witness to the countless celebrations and even grief of the people of Sariaya. The tree was recently rehabilitated by expert tree surgeons after one of the big branches broke off due to the weight of the crown, leaving a huge cavity in its trunk. The cavity was patched with cement mortar and experts anticipate that the bark will grow around the repaired part. As seen in the photo, most branches were also pruned to reduce the stress and avoid another break.
Nevertheless, a sign was placed to warn those who park their vehicles or stay nearby about the danger of a falling acacia branch.
